River of Life Fellowship began in September 2009 with a handful of people meeting in a home in Iota, all sharing the same passion for the Lord and the same desire to see the people of Iota experience a personal relationship with our Savior. After six weeks of prayer and sharing in the vision that God was giving to our group of believers, we officially launched River of Life, conducting our first worship service with a total of 14 people. God had spoken a promise over our church, and it is where we chose our name: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

Even though we had only been meeting for over a month, God had been speaking to the hearts of many families about a work He had planned for Iota. Over the next few months, God continually added to our fellowship and began to build our spiritual family. At this time, we began to outgrow the home we were meeting in and began searching for a larger place to worship. In January 2010, God opened the door for us to meet at the Iota High School Auditorium. But we knew that the Auditorium was not our permanent solution, so we began praying for the location where God would have The River established. God graciously opened the door for us to purchase seven acres of land on Bulldog Lane on the west side of Iota, upon which we constructed our first building. God miraculously provided the funds to pay off the land in only nine short months!

Actually, the Lord began to lay the groundwork for the church years ago in the hearts of many faithful people. God has used many different people with diverse backgrounds, various experiences and unique gifts and talents to see His vision become reality. In our first few years, we have been able to practically show the love of Jesus by serving the Iota community in various ways – and that is only the beginning. We are anticipating even greater things through the Spirit of God. We believe God has called us to Iota to live the Gospel, love people and be the church. The River is a place to be encouraged, equipped and challenged as you grow in your relationship with God and others. We genuinely believe that God will use River of Life to accomplish His purpose in such a way that He receives all the glory. It is only going to get better from here.
